Why I do what I do: I love my work because I get to witness people transform! And I know it works. I have experienced and seen so much life change I can’t deny it. Using traditional and cutting-edge techniques, I can help you get to the heart of your pain, find get relief and begin to move forward. I love it when I see the light bulb go on – Then I know I’m about to witness a miracle, and that my client is going to get real movement. You find ways to jettison old baggage and unhelpful ways of thinking or feeling so that you get real transformation. This opens more possibility for you to align with your highest self and find your purpose. My goal is to witness and support my clients as they lighten their load to find more contentment and joy.
I welcome and embrace clients from all walks of life and fully enjoy and appreciate what you have to teach me. Our work will focus on deeply engaging with each other to support and guide your path to the YOU that you want to be. Maybe even learn to love. We will tailor fit your healing and development to the current pains and skills you have, then up your game through awareness and skills practice. I’ve got your back the whole time.
I am a pretty straight forward person, and I love working with people who are willing to change. So I will challenge you to challenge yourself. I also have one of the most tender hearts on the planet, so I might get teary with you (just a little). Below are some of my credentials and the first things to think about on this path. How engaged will you be, what kind of services do you want and how to decide.
I offer both medically coded and non-coded services. I am a credentialed out of network provider for all insurances. Please see the rate structure and special note about “couples” therapy for medical services below. Here is how you can know which service to choose:
Medically coded services provide an ICD-10 diagnosis and all appointments and treatments are medically coded. The treatment we use is sourced from evidence based practices and research. We will use skills from mindfulness based practices as well as CBT, DBT and psychodynamic & systems theories. You must have a coded medical diagnosis (like depression) for these services. Medical services are coded so that they are eligible for insurance, flex plans and tax deductions. You can choose for me to submit your info to insurance and accept assignment, or give you a coded receipt for you to submit. Please be aware of price differences and what your insurance requires when you select your appointment type.
Services that are not medically coded are not related to a diagnosis and the appointments are not medically coded. As above, the treatment we use is sourced from evidence based practices and research. We will also use skills from mindfulness based practices as well as CBT, DBT and psychodynamic & systems theories. However, these services also include High Performance theory, Energy Medicine, Energy Psychology, Gottman Theory, Theta Healing, Hypnosis, Soul Retrieval, Resonance Therapy, guided imagery and many more. There is a discount for cash, instead of check or card.
Insurance: I am an out of network provider. I do not “bill” insurance. If your insurance allows me, I am happy to submit your appointment information electronically, as a courtesy to you. I like to use my insurance too! However, I do not accept assignment (which means they pay me directly) from insurance companies. Also, I do not contact insurance companies to resolve issues, that is your responsibility. Payment in full is expected at the time of service.
Couple’s Therapy: While I believe that couple’s therapy focused on your relationship patterns is medically important, most insurance companies do not.
The code that is used for couples therapy is actually for CONJOINT treatment. This means that there is someone else involved in the management of the identified patient’s medical symptoms, not that you work out your problems or learn to be closer. Of course, there is overlap, but I do not accept insurance for couple’s work because I am unwilling to accidentally commit insurance fraud. I’m sure you understand, as you don’t want to do that either! If you want relationship counseling, please choose the non medically based relationship session.

Who I am: I’ve always been intuitive. My mom tells me I used to tell her what “the Indians told me” when I was 3 or 4 – I still have a guide that is a Native American woman. When I was an adolescent my parents called our phone “Tabatha’s counseling service” because my peers were always calling for support. ( Imagine offering romantic support to the guy you like in high school. Boo.) I grew up in an interesting family. My mom was a flower child who wore business suit for many years. And my dad is a rogue evangelist and entrepreneur with so much juice it’s hard to contain. Let’s just summarize it by saying I learned to think out-of-the-box. It got me through 7 car crashes, Epstein-Barr, cancer, two collage degrees, moving 33 times in 31 years, two solo trips to Europe and learning that I was already old and of “advanced maternal age” when I had my son at 36. Today, my life looks pretty great. I’m married to to my soulmate and lover, I have an amazing, brilliant son and my mom and dad, brother, sister (in law) and nephew live close. My passion is also my vocation, and our mutt-dog is a familiar to me.
My credentials: I hold a bachelor’s of science degree in human development and a Master of arts degree in marriage and family therapy. Suffice it to say, I get how life works from a clinical perspective. I am a clinical member of the American Association for marriage and family therapy and a Diplomat through the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP). I have served as the President and president-elect of the Oregon Association for marriage and family therapy (OAMFT). I have spoken on many topics with several organizations including the American Association for marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), Columbia community mental health, the Oregon Department of human services, Oregon State University, the Oregon chapter of the national alliance on mental illness, and Yamhill County adult mental health. I have lobbied for our health rights on Capitol Hill and have awarded work and senators plaques on behalf of the American Association for marriage and family therapy for their efforts in mental health. I have studied and worked alongside thought leaders in my field including Dr. David Schnarch, Dr. Ellen Bader, Dr. Gina Ogden, Dr Kate Siner, AmyJo Goddard, MA and Bonnie Battenoch, MA. I regularly run groups, workshops and classes in my local area And have piloted to podcast series: romantic alchemy and karmic resonance.
